That matters because the endorsement is new to the market. Australian, state and territory governments authorised the model in December 2024 and it commenced on 24 February 2026. Most procurement teams are still working out where it sits in their frameworks. This post explains what it is, what it isn't, and what to do with it if you buy translation.
What is NAATI LSP Endorsement?
NAATI LSP Endorsement is an organisation-level credential. It confirms that a language service provider meets defined standards for how it sources practitioners, secures data, monitors quality and reports on its work. NAATI audits the organisation against six requirement areas, grants endorsement for a two-year term, and reviews compliance on an ongoing basis.
Until now, NAATI's credentials applied to people. A certified translator is one person who has passed one exam. There was no equivalent standard for the company that engaged that translator, briefed them, handled the client's data and signed off the final file. Endorsement fills that gap. How is endorsement different from certification?
Certification answers a question about the person doing the work. Endorsement answers a question about the organisation standing behind that work. Most government, healthcare and enterprise frameworks increasingly care about both.

What does endorsement sit alongside at LEXIGO?
Endorsement doesn't replace the rest of LEXIGO's compliance stack. It sits with the credentials procurement teams already ask for: ISO 17100 for translation production quality, ISO 27001 for information security and ISO 9001 for quality management. Is endorsement mandatory yet?
No. Endorsement isn't yet a universal mandatory requirement for government work. Several Commonwealth panels through 2026 reference it. If you're drafting a tender now, include it where your framework asks for it and ask providers to quote their endorsement number so it can be checked.
What should buyers do with this?
Three things, in order.
Verify the listing. Search the NAATI directory for the provider and confirm the endorsement number they've quoted matches. Ours is LSP950085.
Keep the two credentials separate in your specification. Certified practitioners for the translation itself. An endorsed provider for the management, security and quality assurance around it. Writing them as one requirement lets a provider satisfy the first and skip the second.
