The 2021 Census found about 1,200 people in Scenic Rim speaking a language other than English at home, a small community in which German is the largest group. On its own, no other language reaches one in 100. In Brisbane, the share speaking another language is more than double.
The largest communities are small, but they're here: German, Korean and Mandarin.

The headline 2.8% counts only residents who named a language other than English. 3,149 people left the question blank; treat every blank as another language and the figure is 9.9%, while measuring only those who answered gives 3.0%.
Ranked lists skip broad categories such as "Chinese, nfd", which stay in the totals. National figures are summed from suburbs and sit a touch under the ABS release.
