The 2021 Census found about 420 people in Murray speaking a language other than English at home, a small community in which Afrikaans is the largest group. None of those languages reaches one resident in 100. Nationally, the share speaking another language is more than double.
Small as they are, Afrikaans, Italian and Tagalog are the largest.
The share for the City of Perth is more than twice as high as Murray's. Among Western Australia councils, Murray ranks 94th.
