The National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters Ltd (known as NAATI) is the national standards and accreditation body for translators and interpreters in Australia.

NAATI's mission, as outlined in the NAATI Constitution, is to;

"set and maintain high national standards in translating and interpreting to enable the existence of a pool of accredited translators and interpreters responsive to the changing needs and demography of the Australian community"

The core focus of NAATI is issuing credentials (known as accreditations or recognitions) for professionals who wish to work as translators and interpreters in Australia.

In Australia, foreign documents not written in English, must be accompanied by a NAATI accredited or NAATI certified translation, for certain administrative procedures or, to guarantee the access of certain rights and services.

Be it legal documents like, birth, school, marriage certificates, and legal contracts. Or, export related documents like; user guides, generic certificate of origin and dangerous goods certificate.

Government authorities like, the immigration department, the judiciary, and customs, will need a certified NAATI translation for you to conduct any official business in Australia if and when you have a non-English document.

This mandate falls upon the NAATI (National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters) which is the sole body that gives certification and accreditation for translators as contemplated by Australia’s professional and translation standards.

A NAATI certified translator must not only know one or more foreign languages, but also master the native language. To test their skills and aptitudes for translation, they must sit and pass a NAATI certification test and once accredited, continue professional development criteria.

For this reason, nearly all government departments and official bodies only accept translations conducted by NAATI accredited translators. Most Lexigo NAATI translators for personal requirements are experienced as migration translators and legal translators.

A certified NAATI translation is sometimes accompanied by a signed statement attesting that the translation is accurate and complete - more commonly, the translation is simply stamped by the NAATI accredited translator. It means that, the text is true and is in conformity with the original content.

In regards to standards, the NAATI website states that;

"NAATI assesses translation and interpreting professionals against these standards so that English and non-English speakers can interact effectively with each other, particularly when accessing medical, government and other services" — official NAATI website, www.naati.com.au

We're always looking for ways to save on time and costs through our own smart technology, and pass those savings on to our customers.

Unlike traditional translation agencies, LEXIGO can provide translations cheaper, faster and at scale by eliminating common manual processes involved in NAATI accredited translations that you would usually pay a premium for.

Approximately 90% of the languages we offer are at the rates quoted above, however some rarer languages can attract higher fees.

There are many factors that could affect the cost of NAATI translation from language to language. For example, some languages have an extremely limited number of NAATI accredited translators available, and are in high-demand.

Another factor could be that the language required has a higher number of NAATI accredited translators at the 'Advanced' level - this is a higher accreditation level than the required level of Professional translator and costs more.

You can pay securely online via credit card. We accept all major credit cards; Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

Yes, your NAATI translation will be accepted by all Australian Government Departments and Bodies. Guaranteed. In fact, we have a 99.99% acceptance rate.

LEXIGO not only provides NAATI certified translation services for individuals, but also to Australian Government Departments.

All LEXIGO translations are conducted by professionally accredited NAATI certified translators. We will provide you with an official translation that includes the NAATI stamp.

We also guarantee it will be accepted by the relevant Department, or your money back.

NSW Driver's License please note: If you are translating a driver's license for the purpose of driving as an international tourist in NSW, LEXIGO is able to translate the driver's license. However;

If you are translating a driver's license to apply for an Australian Driver's License in the state of New South Wales (NSW), LEXIGO is not able to translate the driver's license. As per the requirements of the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS), your license must be translated via RMS.

LEXIGO's Driver's License Translation is accepted, and; guaranteed for acceptance, in all other states (except NSW).

You will receive your full money back; if an Australian Government department has asked you for a NAATI accredited translation; and you translate with LEXIGO; and your translation was not accepted.

In the highly unlikely event your translation was not accepted, LEXIGO will need to speak directly to the relevant Government Department to attempt to make any necessary amendments for acceptance and confirm why the translation was not accepted. If the translation is still not accepted, LEXIGO will refund your purchase in full.

Yes. Australia Post acts on behalf of the government to process certain applications such as Passports for the Australian Passport Office. Their role in the process is not to assess either the passport application or any accompanying documentation such as NAATI accredited translations.

The processing of the application and accompanying documentation is assessed by the relevant authorities.

LEXIGO provides Australia-wide certified NAATI translation services, this includes all major cities and regional areas, including but not limited, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane, Darwin, Perth, Adelaide and Hobart.

Original certified NAATI translations can be delivered to all locations across Australia via Australia Post and/or Courier.

In Australia, there are high-volume languages and low-volume languages which are defined by the size and demand of their respective communities.

For new and emerging languages and communities in Australia, NAATI certification may not be available. In this case, NAATI 'recognises' these languages and has yet to formally provide certification testing for these languages and instead provides NAATI recognition.

In the event that NAATI certification is not available, you will be supplied with a NAATI recognised translation.
